An annual remix compilation series: REMIX08 (2008), REMIX09 (2009), REMIX10 (2010).
Each release collects remixes Colin made of other artists’ tracks during that year,
with the title format “[ARTIST]-[ORIGINAL TITLE] ([remix descriptor] mix).” REMIX10
is the most thoroughly documented, with 24 tracks — confirming that Colin was actively
remixing other artists at high volume throughout the alphabets era. The naming convention
confirms Colin as the remixer (not the remixed artist).

Three annual remix compilations — REMIX08, REMIX09, REMIX10 — collecting the remix work Colin did as alphabets each year. The format is consistent: each track title identifies the original artist, the original song title, and a parenthetical remix name coined by Colin.

The parenthetical mix names follow the same absurdist word-collision style as Colin’s track titles across all his work — nine inch witch, deep tattoo smooches, scary dipper are clearly his coinages, not the original artists’.

REMIX10 alone has 24 tracks — confirming this was high-volume, year-round activity. 24 remixes in a single year means Colin was regularly engaging with other artists’ work as a creative practice parallel to his own releases. The artists remixed span the experimental/indie/electronic scene contemporary to the alphabets era.

Release date confirmed: December 30, 2009. One confirmed track: TALONS [HIDEOUS MEN].

Research Gaps

Archive vs Bandcamp split (2026-04-24 finding)

The REMIX series has an unusual archive shape: the local Alphabets archive
folders for REMIX09 and REMIX10 are entirely empty, and REMIX08 has only one
track. This is in contrast to most other Alphabets folders (which carry their
full session content as MP3/M4A files). The most plausible explanation is
that REMIX compilations were produced as Bandcamp-direct uploads using
session material that lived in other archive folders — Colin staged each
remix in the per-artist or per-month folders, then assembled the REMIX
compilation only at the upload step, never re-saving the bundle locally.
This means the authoritative tracklist for REMIX09 and REMIX10 is the
Bandcamp page, not the archive.

Notes for Website

The REMIX series reveals a significant dimension of Colin’s practice that isn’t visible from his solo releases alone: he was an active participant in a remix culture, building relationships with other artists’ work as a form of creative dialogue. For the website, this could be framed as “Colin as collaborator and interpreter” — not just a solo artist but someone in active conversation with a broader experimental music community.
