— alongside scattered sun-titled tracks elsewhere in the archive. This
motif sits in his catalog the way “rain” sits in many singer-songwriter
catalogs: a touchstone he kept returning to.

Reading

Where the howl motif sits in late-night/dream territory, the sun
motif is daytime, social, summer-coded — “summer hello”, “field day”, “sun
mountain champions”. The SUNPOWER series specifically reads as Colin’s
celebratory register: bright, playful, group-energy. Distinct from the
nocturnal “rave” or “ghost” registers elsewhere in his catalog.

Notes for future passes

• “Sunkissed” appears multiple times — possibly a sub-motif worth its own
  trace.
• The relationship between SUNPOWER (the release group) and other “sunny”
  releases (e.g. CAVE RAVE’s daytime moments, BIEBER JERBOA’s “let go of
  stress”) is worth mapping.
