Project: alphabets
Series: underwaters — Vol. V
Release year: ~2012–2013 (exact date unconfirmed)
Archive location: _Documentation/Music/alphabets/underwaters V
Tracks: 6
The most compact completed volume of the series. Six tracks, sparse, and closing with sea sick — a word that refers both to nausea from ocean motion and a particular longing for the sea. As the penultimate completed volume (VI exists only as work files), V may function as a winding-down: fewer creatures, shorter titles, and a closing track that could be read as exhaustion or departure.
Bubbles and vitamins opens the volume with something almost domestic — both are things you encounter in a medicine cabinet or a fish tank. Seacow beauty contest is characteristically absurdist. Giant poison beach lizards pushes the ecosystem onto shore — a liminal creature, neither fully underwater nor fully land-based.
Deep creak speak is the most textural title of the series: creak as sound, deep as depth, speak as language — an image of the ocean communicating through structural groans.
