Volume IV is the darkest and most ceremonial installment. Where earlier volumes were playful and frenetic, IV descends: ancient tortoise chants low opens with geological time; otter shaman dark magic potions introduces ritual; deepsea pegasus armies brings mythological creatures to the ocean floor. The “deepsea” prefix (used twice) signals the series going further down than before.
Scubaboon — a portmanteau of scuba and baboon — is one of the more surreally funny titles in the entire catalog. Ribbon raptors closes the volume with speed and violence, a contrast to the slow-opening ancient tortoise.
R lab is the most cryptic title in the series: no creature, no description, just an abbreviation. May refer to a location, a process, or be a deliberate non sequitur.
