Context
The May 2009 album fills another gap in the album-a-month series. This folder’s full title — “DON’T TAKE IT SERIOUS, I’M A LITTLE KID” — is a direct autobiographical statement from Colin at 18–19 years old, both a disavowal of seriousness and an ownership of youth. It’s one of the most characterful folder titles in the archive.
The May-naming convention for tracks (“maygrading,” “may roar roar,” “maypears,” “maybreazy,” “maywolves”) is consistent with the seasonal/month-themed titling seen in other releases of this period. The track “mayday” may be a play on both the month and the distress call.
ASD files confirm Ableton Live was in use for at least “maybe bigfoot sings love songs in the deep night.”
